The Accountant will work with the General Manager and the Executive Team to define and lead the execution of short-term and long-term goals.  The ideal candidate will drive the growth of the business through leadership, strategic planning, and financial forecasting and analysis. This role will be responsible for all financial operations of the organization including preparation of annual plans and budgets, rolling forecasts and financial plans, etc. While many of the functions are management focused, this is a very hands-on job that will require personal involvement and direct entry of data into the accounting system.

Essential Functions

  • Drive growth of the business through leadership, strategic planning, and financial forecasting and analysis
  • Provide leadership over BDAT Financials
  • Report Financial issues to the BDAT GM and Corporate Controller that will impact the company. Must be able to screen what warrants higher leadership attention and what doesn’t. Examples include, but not limited to, actions that may result in a lawsuit, employee issues, Financial and Accounting issues that may bring down day-to-day operations, major program issues that will impact a customer/contract, etc.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day business activities in functional areas under Finance and Accounting. The functional areas under accountant are daily; Accounting Responsibilities, Financial Reporting, Invoicing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Wide Area Workflow, Labor Rates, Cost Structure, Manage outsourced functions, Periodic bank reconciliations, debt payments, chart of accounts, orderly accounting filing system, system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Provide Data, Present Data, Participate and support major company Accounting and Finance functions. Company functions include but not limited to are monthly IPRs, monthly PMRs, preparing income statements and balance sheets, quarterly off-sites, Board of Director Meetings, corporate annual report, measure the performance of company operations, calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, produce and manage annual budget and forecasts, calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management, etc.
  • Accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepares information to help with strategic financial planning, cash management, and risk management.
  • Able to work in a Small Business environment. Must be able to work outside the area of Accounting and Financial Responsibilities when the company needs help with other production like activities.
  • Responsible for company Policies and Processes. One of the company’s goals is to receive an AS9100 certification.
  • Supervise Accounting Staff and responsible for employee training.
  • Provide knowledge and experience in GAAP.
  • Reports any fraud, waste and abuse of company assets.
  • Provide knowledge and experience in DoD Contracts as it pertains to invoicing, Purchase Orders, Audits (i.e. DCAA).

Supervisory Responsibility
The accountant manages all employees of the accounting department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

This position requires up to 10% travel.

Required Education and Experience  

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  2. 2 to 4 years of accounting experience, manufacturing experience a plus
  3. Advanced Excel capabilities

Preferred Education and Experience  

  1. Graduate Degree in business or accounting

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be a
U.S. Persons and able to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance
